Just In Case You Wanted To Know

My husband is a rock star. On occasion he brings me home little gifts from work. I know what you’re thinking, a gift from work? What like a pen or something? O contrare my friend. Today I am wearing a t-shirt he designed and brought to me yesterday. And after work today he handed me a bonus he got from receiving an award at his work employee meeting. The Making it Happen Award, cuz he makes stuff happen. And not just simple stuff but the things that others might seem impossible. Yup, he’s a rockstar!

Tickling the Ivories

When I should’ve been organizing or cleaning or really anything else besides surfing the internet I found a piano on Craigslist. I had found a few a week or so ago but didn’t really want to pay the price they were asking. So when I came across a piano for $175 I immediately emailed the seller and arranged for a time to meet the next day. With sleeping babies in the car I went to see the piano and really liked what I saw. The man selling had the piano for the past 20 years since his mother passed. He didn’t play so you can imagine it was really out of tune, but in great condition. He said he didn’t know what pianos go for so he would give it to me for $125. I didn’t argue, said I would talk to Jim and get back to him. We picked it up the next day, thanks to Doug’s help and a friend’s truck. It is now sitting in the perfect spot in our living room, making our home complete. I still need to get it tuned, though that hasn’t stopped us from playing. Holly and JD especially love pounding on the keys and for some reason having music to look at is a must. I guess they feel more official. One of these days when I get used to having toddlers running around I want to start giving piano lessons. I probably should start practicing!

Warning…if you don’t like rodents, do not read

When my mom was here in February we had a very strong odor in the house. Being pregnant, it really bothered me to the point that I called animal damage control and scheduled for them to come out. Jim had the day off and wasn’t very happy that I had made the appointment because the crawl space is in our closet under the organizer. I broke down in tears and he didn’t ask anymore questions. The next morning he tore apart the closet and had the crawl space open and ready for the animal guy. As soon as the guy walked in he confirmed that the smell was indeed dead rats. You see, we had poison in the shed and thought we were doing something good. Well we were poisoning the rats and they were going under the house to die. We got everything taken care of, the rat decomposed under the house and we had to live with the smell for about 2 weeks. Fast forward to this weekend…Jim was cleaning out the shed to make room for more stuff when he discovered, dun dun dun, a dead rat. And we’re sure there were more hidden in the drop clothes but we did not check to confirm. I took a picture for your enjoyment!

I’ve been introduced to vlogging. It’s kinda cool, and maybe someday we can do it. Though maybe Liz will be the anchor…or maybe we can get Sarah to use her skillz. Anywho, check out mobuzz.com an interesting take on the news.
