Funeral Weekend

A little delayed, but here are the photojournalistic efforts chronicling the weekend of Gramps’ funeral. We all had lots of fun (as evidenced), and got a chance to remember Gramps and celebrate his strong sense of family. If anyone has a picture they’d like to include, send to me or my dad, and we’ll get it posted all fancy-like. Click on the thumbnail to see the larger version(Video to come!):

Hey guys, it’s Rachie. Well, I think that this whole thing is a great idea and I appreciate Jim and his creativity. I truly enjoyed last weekend for so many reasons, and one of them was having the chance to have a little break from my sweet kids and just being able to be one of the kids again myself. I had such a blast with all of my cousins and I sure do wish that we all had lived closer growing up and that we could of had more opportunities to make memories, but I guess that is why it is so important to continue to get everyone together as often as we can so that we can make more memories that we will always remember and cherish. That is definitely what Grandma and Grandpa would want us to do. I have many wonderful memories of “Gramps” and I guess in a way that I wish I had more. I am so grateful for the time that I had with my grandparents while we lived with them and I wish that I could remember everything that I experienced while living with them, but there are only a few major things that have stuck with me. I think that I had a special place in Grandpa’s heart, since I was his first grandaughter, and he definitely made me feel special. I remember going with him to places around town and whenever I would go with him to the bank, he would always sing: “To the bank, to the bank, to the bank, bank, bank.” He definitely had a way of making small, everyday activites fun and he was always there to make you laugh or put a smile on your face. One year for Christmas, Grandpa took on the task of building me a doll house and I honestly don’t know what happened to it and I wish that I still had it for my little girl. I can also remember Grandma and Grandpa giving me a New Kids on the Block bed spread one year for christmas and that definitley made my day. Grandma and Grandpa were always giving to me and to the rest their grandchildren, but the one thing that they gave me that I will always be able to keep with me forever was their love. I couldn’t have asked for more loving and caring grandparents than what I had and I will always be forever grateful for that.
