Santa Came!

To Holly and JD, everything related to Christmas is Santa. Lights, stockings, Christmas trees. Well I guess not everything, they do know who baby Jesus is in the Nativity scene. We went caroling one Monday night and only lasted about two houses because every time we got back in the car JD would cry, “Santa, Santa” all while pointing at the Christmas lights on the surrounding houses. It really was cute the first time. And even more cute when we would walk to Grandma’s house at night and in the silence of the night all you could hear was JD’s high pitched giggle followed by a really giddy ‘Santa!’

Christmas Eve came and going to bed was quite the struggle. We were getting the babies kids excited to go to bed only to wake up to see what Santa would bring. Yeah, turns out 18 month olds don’t really comprehend morning and only turns laughter into tears when having to go to bed.

Christmas morning came and because Holly and JD ended up in our bed we kept them in the room until Jim’s family arrived and were armed with the Flip video to document their reactions. A little underwhelming of a response but still quite fun! Holly went right to her bike while JD needed some prodding from Grandma and still wasn’t so sure. They soon warmed up to idea and tried out their bikes with my help. They thought their socks and toothbrushes were the best part of their stockings, well along with the candy cane filled with M&Ms. We finished up at our house and then went to Grandma and Poppy’s to open a few more presents and eat breakfast. Let’s just say we are blessed ‘to infinity and beyond.’ We got a lot of Toy Story action figures, I couldn’t resist. Breakfast was yummy as usual with the traditional Latkas, fried eggs, bacon and oj. Yum! We lounged, played with toys, weighed ourselves on the new WiiFit, tested our balance on the tight rope walk and napped. Oh and we ate a bunch of junk food. That’s what holidays are all about, right?! We will now decided which of the many toys we want to play with and learn how to share all at the same time! Next year we look forward to a white Christmas in Virginia.
